You do not laugh in the face of war, you laugh at its back.
- Black★Rock Shooter complaining to Template:Biography Kagamine Rin (Vocaloid) about Template:Biography The Yamaha Kingdom (The Three Kingdoms)'s aggressive invasions of Template:Biography native (The Three Kingdom) countries during Doomsday.

Black★Rock Shooter (ブラック★ロックシューター, Burakku Rokku Shuutaa) is a Template:Biography human (Native) Template:Biography newcomer (The Three Kingdoms) from The Black★Rock Shooter Anime and was best known for being The Enforcer of Order of The Yamaha Kingdom, as leader of Template:Biography The Black Squad (The Three Kingdoms) during Template:Biography The First Year (The Three Kingdoms). On Template:Biography Doomsday's Second Anniversary (The Three Kingdoms), she was set up as The Enforcer of Order of Template:Biography Gensokyo (The Three Kingdoms) by Template:Biography The AI Director (Left 4 Dead) before Template:Biography Suzumiya Haruhi (Suzumiya Haruhi)'s Hand Canon sent her back to her own world.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Canonically, Black's appearance is based on her 'other self', Template:Biography Kuroi Mato (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime), but fictionally, it is the other way round, Mato being created second.

Black is a pale-skinned, blue-eyed girl, with black hair in uneven twintails where the right lock of her hair is shorter than her left, possibly due to burns. She bears two scars on her midriff. Her eyes have a concentric circle pattern.

Her clothes consist of a string bikini top under a hooded black jacket. The jacket has a white stripe running along the length of each of her sleeves and has a white star design on the left side of her torso and back. She also wears a pair of tight-fitting shorts, gloves, black knee-high boots and a black choker.

Black's appearance has regularly been likened to Template:Biography Hatsune Miku (Vocaloid). Many people are convinced Black and Miku are the same person, not helped by the fact that Miku sings Black's theme song in the Black★Rock Shooter promotional video.

Similar to the situation between Mato and Black, Template:Biography White Rock Shooter (Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME)'s appearance is based off Black's even though, canonically, the appearance of Black's counterpart in White's canon, Template:Biography Stella (Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME), is derived from White. Despite the similarities in appearance, Black and White have rarely been confused as the same person.

Other Forms[edit | edit source]

Shooter Form[edit | edit source]

The only change is that Black's left eye is engulfed in blue fire that can be controlled at will.

Insane Black★Rock Shooter (Insane Shooter Form)[edit | edit source]

Compared to Black's normal form, Insane Form has purple eyes with a flame of the same colour emerging from her left eye and fangs. Her outfit turns into black armour, covering her chest, left arm and legs. Her jacket becomes a torn black cape and her entire right arm becomes a robotic appendage holding a vicious blade. Though her hairstyle stays the same, she acquires a black crown-like object with a white cross design which wraps around her longer lock of hair. A few chains wrap around her hair and on her waist.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Black was originally a calm and collected girl. Before, she had a tendency not to speak at all until she was given permission to talk to Miku about The Yamaha Kingdom's anti-native polices. From that point on, she has been vocal about her views, particularly if they contrast the views of a higher power, in fear of her opinions being overlooked. She is good at following orders and will do what is asked but will always think of any repercussions about any effects it may cause for others, Template:Biography native (The Three Kingdoms) or Template:Biography newcomer (The Three Kingdoms).

After passing her Template:Biography Shooter Connection (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime) with Template:Biography Kuroi Mato (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime) to Template:Biography Sora Muziku (qrullgx13), Black's personality has become a little more fragile and insecure.

As Insane Black★Rock Shooter[edit | edit source]

Insane Form is more aggressive and excitable than Black's normal form and is keen on causing destruction. However, she is still capable of making rational decisions and values her own preservation.

Policies[edit | edit source]

Black believes that Template:Biography native (The Three Kingdoms)s ought have the help they need, especially to recover from anything beyond their controls such as natural disasters and events caused by newcomers. While she understands the intentions of Template:Biography The Three Kingdoms (The Three Kingdoms) to have stayed away from natives after Doomsday's First Anniversary in 2013, she did not believe that it was the best cause of action.
Template:Biography Sora Muziku (qrullgx13) promised Black that she would give her Shooter powers back at some designated time in the future. This was essentially a bond of friendship between the two.
Black is a proud upholder of Template:Biography The Unwritten Law (The Three Kingdoms). She did not approve of any of The Yamaha Kingdom's methods of punishment, including throwing people out of high windows by androids, as they caused serious damage to the people involved. Even though no one died from these injuries due to the android calculative abilities and none of these caused permanent damage, Black was disgusted at the pain caused by this.

Skills[edit | edit source]

Powers[edit | edit source]

Insane Shooter Powers

To activate Insane form she ignites a purple flame from her left eye.
 • Chain Control
Black can summon chains from solid surfaces to latch onto a target.
 • Checkerboard Environment
When fighting another being that possesses Shooter powers, the ground turns into a brittle ceramic material and gains a clean black and white checkerboard pattern.
Black is capable of sending Template:Biography The Insane ★rock Cannon (Black★Rock Shooter) and Template:Biography The Insane Black Blade (Black★Rock Shooter) into Hammerspace, if she is in contact with them.

Talents[edit | edit source]

Arms

Black is capable of using small firearms effectively but works best with her large arm cannon, called Template:Biography The ★rock Cannon (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime).
 • In Insane Form
Insane Form gains a different ★rock Cannon that is more powerful than its Shooter Form's equivalent.

Melee

Black is a strong melee fighter, far above average but is not strong enough to compete with other high tier fighters without resorting to Insane Form.
 • In Insane Form
In Insane Form, Black has enhanced offensive and defensive power and speed but is a little less agile due to having to carry her weapons.

Swordplay

Black is skilled in single-handed swordplay. She owned a black-hilted katana, called Template:Biography The Black Blade (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime).
 • In Insane Form
In addition to a short and serrated blade, The ★rock Cannon can be transformed into a similar large blade while in Insane Form.

Equipment[edit | edit source]

Armament[edit | edit source]

Template:Biography The ★rock Cannon (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime) is a long arm cannon, capable of shooting twenty shots per second. Black loaned her ordinary Shooter Form to Template:Biography Sora Muziku (qrullgx13), now owned by Template:Biography Rulia (qrullgx13), so does not possess The ★rock Cannon.

Template:Biography The Insane Black Blade (Black★Rock Shooter) is a serrated curved black sword, shorter than Template:Biography The Black Blade (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime) but potentially more damaging.

History[edit | edit source]

Doomsday[edit | edit source]

Black was dropped in Template:Biography Moscow (Native), the capital of Template:Biography Russia (Native), where she quickly came across a highranking Template:Biography Vocaloid (Vocaloid) called Template:Biography Kagamine Rin (Vocaloid). The confusion Black was in led her to follow the confident Rin who clearly had a better grasp of events, though Black did not learn until later that Rin was an android communicating with the rest of her kind via international Template:Biography native (The Three Kingdoms) communication systems. During all this, Black was ever aware of the waning life force of Template:Biography Kuroi Mato (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime), the human she sharedher Template:Biography Shooter Connection (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime) with. Realising the knowledge Rin and her allies had, Black asked Rin to find Mato.

Rin obliged, passing the task to other Vocaloids. Mato was quickly found in Template:Biography The Gobi Desert (Native), Template:Biography Mongolia (Native), passed out from dehydration, for which Black was grateful to the Vocaloids.

Continuing to follow Rin to Template:Biography The Moscow Kremlin (Native), Black heard about Template:Biography Hatsune Miku (Vocaloid)'s takeover of Template:Biography Canada (Native), she approached Rin again, requesting an audience with Miku. Due to Miku's connections to the Black★Rock Shooter series in Template:Biography The Vocaloids (Vocaloid)' homeworld, Miku granted Black's wish to talk over the phone. Black was not happy with Miku's explanations about the threat of Template:Biography Hakurei Reimu (Touhou) and Template:Biography Gensokyo (The Three Kingdoms) but understanding the global situation a little better, she made another request with Rin to keep Mato safe, the easiest way being to imprison her. In turn, Black would join Miku's faction.

Rin agreed and an obedient but a still disgruntled Black helped Rin take over The Kremlin and, in turn, absorbed Russia.[2] Upon meeting other newcomers from her own world, Black convinced them that, despite having been fighting to the death regularly in the past, they would benefit more if they worked together. As her acquaintances agreed one by one, Black founded Template:Biography The Black Squad (The Three Kingdoms), which became Yamaha's official Agents of Order, Black becoming Yamaha's Enforcer of Order. Black was the one who annexed Template:Biography The United Kingdom (Native), for the Miku's newly named The Yamaha Kingdom.

Black became famous worldwide for becoming the highest ranked non-android in the Yamaha administration. However, she was still outranked by every Vocaloid and UTAU in the administration and was required to follow orders from them. She and The Black Squad were not permitted to perform dangerous punishment on anybody due to not being calculative androids.[3]

Black met Template:Biography White Rock Shooter (Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME) in The United Kingdom, where White's home, Template:Biography The Lunar Castle (Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME), had been dropped and offered her a position in The Black Squad. However, White refused and did not join Yamaha's administration in any other fashion.[4]

Template:Biography The First Year (The Three Kingdoms), Post-Doomsday[edit | edit source]

Having personally agreed to Mato being locked up in the bunkered Template:Biography Great Ormond Street Hospital (Native), Black visited Mato when she was ever stationed at the nearby Template:Biography Westminster Palace (Native), which became The Black Squad's official headquarters, across the road from Yamaha's headquarters, Template:Biography Crypton Studios (The Three Kingdoms).

Black personally recruited and trained Template:Biography Sora Muziku (qrullgx13), a Template:Biography Vocaloid (Vocaloid), into The Black Squad[5] to convince the public that Vocaloids were capable of human-like decisions and to convince Yamaha's administration that the public would prefer a more human-like leadership.[6]

Template:Biography Doomsday's First Anniversary (The Three Kingdoms)[edit | edit source]

Within an hour of Sora's recruitment, Sora and Lynette Bishop disobeyed Rin's direct orders to severely injure Template:Biography Melanie Williams (The Three Kingdoms), becoming outlaws. It became Black's personal responsibility to catch the two of them.[7] However, Miku personally ordered Black to allow Sora, Lynette and Template:Biography Solace (Arcania City) to progress unhindered and allow them to commandeer the HMS Thunder Child. Black was transferred to Template:Biography The Canary Islands (Native) to observe the Thunder Child that Miku was remotely controlling. The Thunder Child broke though Template:Biography The Hakurei Barrier (The Three Kingdoms) crossing Template:Biography The Atlantic Ocean (Native), causing a fight to break out between the ship and a small but powerful group of Gensokyo's forces.[8] After the Thunder Child fled the scene and The Hakurei Barrier had been reformed, Black was ordered to approach the area, with Template:Biography The Sonic Barrier (The Three Kingdoms) in the vicinity deactivated, on the aircraft carrier Template:Biography Akagi (Strike Witches)[9] to communicate with the Gensokyo task force and convince them the Thunder Child had been commandeered and would require both Gensokyo and Yamaha to intercept. Reimu agreed to a temporary alliance and the Barriers between the two kingdoms were deactivated.[10]

From that point, Black's responsibility was to chase down the Thunder Child and secretly prevent Gensokyo from seizing its technology. She was granted command of the Akagi, a Template:Biography Strike Witch (Strike Witches)es unit and was accompanied by Black Squad subordinates Black★Gold Saw and Black★Matagi. However, Gensokyo insisted on accompanying Black's group with a more powerful force, captained by Template:Biography Remilia Scarlet (Touhou) who was given control of Template:Biography Metal Gear Arsenal (Metal Gear), its fleet of unmanned Metal Gear RAYs and was joined by her younger sister, Template:Biography Flandre Scarlet (Touhou), and Template:Biography Kawashiro Nitori (Touhou) with the original Template:Biography Metal Gear RAY (Metal Gear). Upon catching up with the Thunder Child, which was again being remotely controlled by Miku, it became apparent that Remilia was unwilling to lose possession of the Thunder Child, using the far larger Arsenal to skewer the smaller ship and prevent the Thunder Child from heading north, back towards Yamaha territory. Black realised the only way to regain the Thunder Child was to fight Remilia's group. Using the power of a remote Template:Biography Iron Curtain (Command and Conquer: Red Alert) to make the Akagi temporarily invulnerable, Black had the Akagi ram into the Thunder Child, freeing the warship. However, Nitori prevented the Thunder Child's escape. Remilia retaliated to Black's betrayal and the two fought, Black resorting to her Insane mode. Before Black could reclaim the Thunder Child, Rin ordered her group to retreat back to Yamaha waters in preparation for the reactivation of The Sonic Barrier to be done right after Template:Biography The Meltdown Directive (The Three Kingdoms).[11] Uninformed about The Meltdown Directive, Black did as she was told before being given new orders by Template:Biography Kasane Teto (UTAU) to redirect the Akagi towards Template:Biography Florida (Native). Black realised that The Meltdown Directive was created to allow Yamaha to take over Template:Biography The United States of America (Native) and was appalled.[12]

Original Events, Pre-DeLorean[edit | edit source]

Not soon after, Template:Biography Suzumiya Haruhi (Suzumiya Haruhi) invaded Gensokyo but was accidentally killed by Template:Biography Cirno (Touhou) with a Template:Biography Death Note (Death Note), leading to the merging of Gensokyo and Template:Biography The North High Colony (The Three Kingdoms) into Template:Biography High Gensokyo (The Three Kingdoms) to stay in power but could not control the newcomers once dominated by Haruhi.

With most of Gensokyo's forces cut off from The United States, remaining Gensokyo loyalists in disarray and Yamaha's administration struggling to take control, Template:Biography The Anti-Humour Society (The Three Kingdoms)'s Gensokyo branch took advantage and fought back. Black and the rest of the Yamaha administration realised there were many Template:Biography newcomer (The Three Kingdoms)s in America who were very powerful and had an advantage against androids including Vocaloids and UTAU. It was quickly decided that an alliance with High Gensokyo would be necessary. As High Gensokyo was also looking for assistance in their own territory, an exchange of prisoners was arranged as a sign of goodwill. Black oversaw the escort of Alice Elizabeth Raymour, Template:Biography Ilissia Reverie (Xenosnake) and Template:Biography Cirno (Touhou), in Template:Biography Barbados (Native), to be traded for Sora, Lynette and Solace. However, during the exchange, all six prisoners abandoned both kingdoms and boarded the Thunder Child, piloted by Template:Biography KITT (Knight Rider). Upon seeing this, Black decided to resign from her position in Yamaha.[13]

However, on visiting Miku at Template:Biography Crypton Studios (The Three Kingdoms) to deliver her resignation, she witnessed the irreversible destruction of Miku by Template:Biography Victor von Doom (Marvel Universe) and Magneto[14], leaders of Template:Biography The Anti-Humour Society (The Three Kingdoms), a massive group of people devoted to the collapse of Template:Biography The Three Kingdoms (The Three Kingdoms)[15], in an attempt to gain Vocaloid access codes to allow control of all of Yamaha's security and projects, including Template:Biography The Arctic Prison (The Three Kingdoms). The two men attempted to coax Black to give them her Black Squad identity card, which would have allowed access to the Arctic, but Black burnt the card with her cannon, disgusted by their treatment of Miku, and started a fight.[16] She lost and was placed under the jurisdiction of White, also a member of The Anti-Humour Society.[17]

Black was imprisoned on the helicarrier Template:Biography Iliad (Marvel Universe) along with Template:Biography Kirisame Marisa (Touhou), under the watchful eyes of White, Template:Biography Superman (DC Universe) and Template:Biography Superboy-Prime (DC Universe), as the helicarrier attempted to intercept the northward heading Thunder Child, which was under control of Template:Biography The Anti-Nine (The Three Kingdoms) (apart from Alice, Lynette and Ilse, who had disembarked earlier), Rin and Template:Biography Tainaka Ritsu (K-ON!). The Iliad successfully took hold of the Thunder Child by a tractor beam, dragging the warship out of the water. In an attempt to disable the tractor beam and rescue Black, Sora, Solace and Naluri boarded the Iliad. However, Sora was caught by Superboy-Prime and was thrown into an android assimilator, her entire data transmitted to Doom, though the data was also intercepted by Template:Biography KC (Final). Upon learning about the Thunder Child's crew's plan to use The DeLorean to prevent Template:Biography Cirno (Touhou)'s use of Template:Biography The Death Note (Death Note) on Haruhi, Doom gave permission for the Iliad crew to disregard Template:Biography The Unwritten Law (The Three Kingdoms). White released Black and Marisa, revealing that she was actually a member of Template:Biography The Humour Society (The Three Kingdoms), a very small group of people who preferred the leadership of Template:Biography The Three Empresses (The Three Kingdoms). Based on White's judgement of the mentally insane Superboy-Prime who would likely destroy the Iliad, Black attempted to break open Sora's assimilator but was unsuccessful. Black was killed, in theory as she could be regenerated via her Shooter Connection, along with White and Sora, when Superboy-Prime exploded the Iliad.[18]

The DeLorean's Changes[edit | edit source]

Naluri Sihara and Sasaki successfully used The DeLorean to time travel back to just before Haruhi was killed by the Death Note. Naluri shot Haruhi with The Hand Canon to shift her out of the world, inadvertently swapping her with Template:Biography Suzumiya Haruki (Suzumiya Haruki). Sasaki, in an attempt to help Naluri understand Haruhi's situation on Doomsday, launched Naluri out the spaceship they were on.[19]

Naluri and Haruki made their way northwards from Template:Biography Rio de Janerio (Native), Template:Biography Brazil (Native), to Barbardos, where Alice, Lynette, Ilse and KITT had just disembarked the Thunder Child a moment earlier. Alice, with angelic powers, flew with Naluri at high speed to the Iliad and to Black, White and Sora, where Naluri activated a bubble shield, preventing their deaths from Superboy-Prime. They were extracted out the wreckage by Template:Biography David Ælious Sun (Final) and KC, also members of The Humour Society. It was decided that they would attempt to revive Reimu, recover Miku and prevent the death of Marisa.

Black, Sora and KITT took a portal to Template:Biography The War Factory (The Three Kingdoms), Template:Biography Siberia (Native), Template:Biography Russia (Native), to use Template:Biography The Append Project (The Three Kingdoms) there and a potential backup on the Vocaloid's digital network to bring back Miku and Template:Biography Kagamine Len (Vocaloid).[20] They were intercepted by Template:Biography The Shagohod (Metal Gear), which was defeated by KITT.[21] On entering the Factory, they were approached by Template:Biography Albert Wesker (Resident Evil). Black passed her normal Shooter powers to Sora, and hence also her Shooter Connection with Mato, and activated her Insane powers to buy Sora and KITT time with the Project. She defeated Wesker[22], only to be mind-controlled by Template:Biography Yuri (Command and Conquer: Red Alert) and was forced to fight Sora but was stopped by a recovered Len, Yuri knocked out by KITT and Sora.[23]

Injured, Black did not take part in the battle over the activation of The DeLorean[24] and witnessed the death of the future Naluri and the disappearance of the future Sasaki, saluting their contribution to the world's future.[25]

Template:Biography The Second Year (The Three Kingdoms)[edit | edit source]

Immediately after Doomsday's First Anniversary, Black went to Great Ormond Street to declare Mato and her friends free. Black decided that Sora should keep her Shooter Powers and Connection with Mato since Sora was politically neutral and would not be part of any possible backlash.

After reforming The Black Squad with Sora rejoining and White accepting a second invitation to the Squad, despite being of different canons[26], Black decided to travel round the world with Template:Biography Dead Master (The Black★Rock Shooter Anime) to observe the world's recovery after the release of control from The Three Kingdoms.[27]

Template:Biography Yggdrasil (Digital Monster X-Evolution), a sentient crystal ball, was briefly released from statis in Template:Biography The Arctic Prison (The Three Kingdoms) to allow Haruhi to examine him for danger. As an Template:Biography Invisible (The Three Kingdoms), he was deemed a harmless object but was placed back in statis just in case. However, in the time he was free, he digitalised the surrounding area, making the statis ineffective. The digitisation spread throughout the universe, including Black, turning her into a digital human.

Template:Biography Doomsday's Second Anniversary (The Three Kingdoms)[edit | edit source]

Yggdrasil's digitalisation reached the edge of the universe, inadvertently granting Template:Biography The AI Director (Left 4 Dead) digital access, who infected the world with Template:Biography Green Flu (Left 4 Dead). This affected all non-immune humans including Black, placing them under the control of The Director, recognisable by yellow eyes.[28]

Template:Biography The Digital Three (The Three Kingdoms), including Template:Biography Skynet (Terminator) who had also been freed by the digitalisation, agreed to stage a fake war to coax Template:Biography Rokiahi (XenoAisam) to feel true fear, the last missing emotion of The Hand Canon, to allow them to return to their original worlds. Under the guise of a difference in ideals between Haruhi, Miku and Reimu, Template:Biography The Three Kingdoms (The Three Kingdoms) were refounded. Black joined Gensokyo, said to want a unified world with a single country.[29] As part of the plan, Gensokyo declared war on Yamaha and North High.

Black accompanied Lynette in Template:Biography Ashiya (Native), Template:Biography Japan (Native), to intercept White's and Sora's escort of Template:Biography The First Four (The Three Kingdoms), which consisted of Rokiahi, Template:Biography Chamber (Final), Template:Biography Rulia (qrullgx13) and Template:Biography Void (Xenosnake). She began a fight with White, while Lynette fought Sora.[30]

In an attempt to force the checkerboard pattern as far as it could go, Black barely survived the fight. Later, Black pretended to attempt to intervene with Haruhi's attempt to force Ritsu to let go of a fleeing Rokiahi. However, Haruhi used her Hand Canon on Black, sending her out of the real world, replaced by another canon, specifically her game counterpart.[31] This act was Yggdrasil's first against the plans agreed with Skynet and the Director.
